What the model does, specifically

Not a general-purpose plant ID tool. A fine-tuned diagnostic model built for the crops, diseases, and field conditions that West African cooperative agents encounter.

Input

A single crop photo taken by a field agent on any Android device, including in low light.

Model

Convolutional neural network fine-tuned on a dataset of cassava, maize, tomato, yam, and soybean disease images sourced from West and East African field conditions, not generic international datasets.

Output

Disease identification, confidence score (%), severity classification (Low / Medium / High), and a structured treatment plan with locally available remedies and resistant varieties.

Latency

Results returned in under 60 seconds. Inference runs server-side; field agents do not need on-device compute or a sustained internet connection during a visit.

Languages

Treatment recommendations available in English, Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo. Agents select output language at login.

Covered crops

Cassava (CMD, CBB, CBSD, anthracnose), Maize (fall armyworm, MSV, gray leaf spot), Tomato (TYLCV, early blight, bacterial wilt), Yam (yam mosaic, anthracnose), Soybean (frogeye, SDS). More crop types added per cooperative request.

The Problem

Diagnose in the field

The agent photographs the crop with their phone during a farm visit. Harvestline returns a disease identification, confidence score, severity rating, and a treatment plan specific to the crop and region, within 60 seconds. The result logs automatically to the farmer's record. No connectivity required in the field; data syncs on reconnection.

Build the farmer roster

Every visit populates a structured record: farmer name, GPS location, crop type, planting date, plot size, diagnosis history, and yield estimate. The cooperative manager sees the full portfolio: all agents, all farmers, all flagged crops, from one dashboard. The roster is the operational asset. It is also what makes this data bankable for insurers and lenders.

Each farmer record is portable: exportable for donor reporting, shareable with agro-input suppliers.

Aggregate and sell

As harvest approaches, Harvestline calculates available volume by lot, clusters nearby farmers with the same crop ready at the same time, and generates a consolidated supply position. The cooperative negotiates with one buyer for the whole lot, not farmer by farmer. Post-sale, proceeds are distributed per-farmer based on the logged contribution weights.

Integrated with buyer-side demand feeds. Minimum lot configuration is set by the cooperative per buyer relationship.
